Black + Gold = Pittsburgh

Be A Design Group: "More specifically, it struck us as interesting that Pittsburgh is so closely associated with the colors Black and Gold. It is the only city in America whose professional sports teams share the same color palette — baseball's Pirates, football’s Steelers and hockey’s Penguins are all black and gold."

Update: Two more trivial facts learned from this logo history from the Steelers' site: 1) The diamonds in the logo are called hypocycloids. 2) The Steelers are the only NFL team that sports their logo on only one side of the helmet.
